Cassidy Hutchinson denies dating Matt Gaetz: ‘I have much higher standards in men’

Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to Donald Trump who was a witness before the House Jan. 6 committee, disputes Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz’s claim that the two once dated.

“In a statement to MSNBC, Gaetz claimed that he “did date Cassidy for a few weeks when we were both single years ago,” and that they remained friends after splitting up,” The Daily Beast reported.

In an interview with Rachel Maddow on Monday, Hutchinson said she never dated Gaetz.

“I have much higher standards in men….Matt is, frankly, a very unserious politician. We see that today with the ruckus that he is causing on Capitol Hill with the spending negotiations. And I don’t really have much else to say to somebody that is more concerned about a sound bite than actually passing legislation.”

Maddow, reading from her book “Enough,” said Gaetz once repeatedly asked Hutchinson to walk with him back to his cabin at Camp David only to have House Speaker Kevin McCarthy tell him: “Get a life, Matt.”

Hutchinson told Maddow she and Gaetz had an “amicable working relationship” and “were good friends at points.”

Hutchinson also wrote that Rudy Giuliani molested her shortly before the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the Capitol. He denies those allegations.
